I’ve been a copious reader my whole life. I was weaned on trashy fiction, sci-fi, fantasy and “action books” (Eric Van Lustbader, anyone?), then graduated to actual literature. My reading lists are erratic: I’ll go through intense fiction jags, then feel guilty and read smart-guy books (i.e., anything non-fiction). Favorite books ever:
- Microserfs, Douglas Coupland
- Sewer, Gas & Electric: The Public Works Trilogy, Matt Ruff
- Bel Canto, Ann Patchett
- Infinite Jest, David Foster Wallace
Favorite book I’m marginally ashamed of reading four times in three months: Jurassic Park, Michael Crichton (I have a weakness for dinosaurs…). Get in touch: monkey1000 -at- gmail-dot-com

I love books. I love to read them, smell them, stack them, share them, and, of course, discuss them. My interests are varied. I read poetry, fiction, and essays along a wide spectrum of genres and eras. While studying for the GRE in Lit, I will be reading a lot of classics. It will be fun. You’ll see!
My favorite book is Frankenstein. I love Kathy Acker, Marilyn Hacker, Harryette Mullen, Virginia Woolf, Dodie Bellamy, Frank O’Hara…

Reading a book may be my favorite thing to do. There’s something so peaceful and wonderfully solitary about sitting by yourself reading the written word– maybe a fantastic children’s book, a wonderful mystery or an absorbing literary novel– that you absolutely love.
I’m all over the place in terms of interest. One week I might be reading the Bhagavad Gita, the next Harry Potter, the next something by Henry James, and the next something about the Iraq war. And I can’t wait to share my thoughts about each!
